These Apple Pie Pancakes are the perfect Fall breakfast meal. They are full of apples and fall spices that make for a great breakfast!
Pancakes are the most popular and requested breakfast item from my kids, besides bacon that is. They love pancakes, and I love making them for them.
I know they are getting a good, hearty breakfast; and they are super easy to make! These Apple Pie Pancakes are super tasty, and great for a Fall breakfast!
How to make Apple Pie Pancakes:
Pancakes any way are easy to make. My Classic Pancake Recipe is the staple for almost all of my pancake recipes.
Every style of pancake I make, essentially starts with this classic recipe. This recipe is made no different besides the extra spices and filling in it.
Sift your dry ingredients together and mix your wet ingredients together separately from the dry ingredients.
Add the wet to the dry and whisk until fully mixed. Heat a skillet over medium heat, and make sure it is hot before adding the batter.
Spray with non-stick cooking spray or use some butter to grease the skillet. Cook and flip once you see bubbles forming in the top of the pancakes.
Top with your favorite topping like some additional apple pie filling, maple syrup and whipped cream!
Ingredient Notes:
- All-Purpose Flour
- Brown Sugar
- Baking Powder
- Seasoning – Ground Cinnamon, Ground Nutmeg, Ground Cloves, and Salt
- Milk – I used 2% for this recipe.
- Eggs
- Vanilla Extract
- Apples
- Non-stick spray for your skillet. Or you can use butter or oil.
- Optional toppings – Maple Syrup, Apple Pie Filling, or Whipped Cream.
Directions:
Step One – Add all your dry ingredients to a mixing bowl and whisk together (all-purpose flour, brown sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt).
Step Two – In a separate mixing bowl whisk together your wet ingredients (milk, eggs, and vanilla extract).
Step Three – Combine your wet and dry ingredients and mix until combined but be careful not to over mix.
- Tip: Overmixing will add too much air to the batter making runnier pancakes.
Step Four – Peel and grate your apples then add the grated apples to your batter and gently fold in.
Step Five – Heat your skillet and add in oil, butter, or nonstick spray. Spoon in about ¼ cup of batter into the warmed skillet and until bubbles form then flip.
Step Six – Cook for about 1 minute until pancakes are golden brown on both sides. Continue cooking until all batter has been cooked and made into pancakes.
Step Seven – Optional: Warm apple pie filling to top your pancakes with. Top with syrup, apple pie filling, and whipped cream.
What should I cook my pancakes on?
I used a frying pan for my pancakes. The more even your heat source is the better when cooking pancakes. The best option would be to use a griddle if you have one.
A griddle will give you a great even heat source to allow the pancakes to cook perfectly!
What should I top my pancakes with?
- Maple Syrup – The classic topping for pancakes. There are a variety of different syrups out there, so get the flavor, style and brand you love! Better yet, try my Homemade Pancake Syrup recipe!
- Apple Pie Filling – These Apple Pie Pancakes are great with some additional apple pie filling! You can use a store bought can of pie filling, or my recipe for Homemade Apple Pie Filling.
- Powdered Sugar – Sometimes a lighter topping is just great. A sprinkle of powdered sugar is light and sweet and works great with these pancakes.
- Whipped Cream – Whipped cream is one of the best toppings for an apple pie. It goes amazing on these pancakes too!
