I have been counting down the days until summer. I have cabin fever and need to get outside. I am ready to say goodbye to the rain and hello to sunshine. Enjoying the outside and letting the kids play and run is much needed. We love grilling all summer long, and get out there as much as we can. Since my husband is the grill master, summer also means less work for me to get done. Since he takes over a lot of the summer dinners I decided a special treat was in order. He’s a big pineapple fan so after dinner we tossed slices on the grill to make the perfect summer sundae. So if you are ready for summer as much as I am, then stop by Walmart to get everything you need and get cooking!
Let’s start with the basic. Cutting a pineapple may seem difficult and look a little intimidating, but it’s pretty simple.
How to Cut a Pineapple:
Start by cutting the bottom than the top of your pineapple. Stand your pineapple upright then slice the skin off from top to bottom. Carefully cut out and remove any brown spots your pineapple might have. For rings use a pineapple corer then slice into rings. If you don’t have a pineapple corer then slice your pineapple into quarters. Cut out the inside core off of each piece. Then you can cut your slice, we sliced ours into medium chunks.
Once you slice your pineapple in your desired shape and size you want to add your simple glaze. You can, of course, add as much as you like to your taste.
How to Make a brown sugar glaze:
The glaze was so simple to make. I just melted my butter in the microwave, but you can also use a saucepan. Add in brown sugar and cinnamon, and then whisk until well combined. Once it’s done brush it on your pineapple on each side.
How to make Grilled Pineapples:
Slice pineapple and place them on a platter. Preheat grill medium heat. Melt butter and whisk in brown sugar and cinnamon. Brush this onto pineapple slices. Place pineapples on a grill and cook on each side for 5 minutes brushing with more of the brown sugar butter as needed. Once done remove them and place them back onto your platter.

Topping your Grilled Pineapple:
This recipe doesn’t stop at just pineapple. We are building the best ice cream Sundaes and that’s just your base. Nothing is better with warm fruit then cold ice cream and smooth whipped cream. I first topped my grilled pineapples with vanilla ice cream. Next, I added whipped cream. Last I sprinkled on just a little ground cinnamon. This dessert was MADE for the summer and back porch sitting.

- 1 teaspoon Brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
