We have a lot of BBQs and pool parties and cookouts during the summer. One thing we do no matter who it is, is bring potluck items for all to share.

Well when the summer holidays come around like Fourth of July or Memorial Day you have to make this festive dessert.

How to make Red White and Blue Jello:

This Jello dessert is very easy to make. I will warn you though, you do need quite a few bowls, and a large baking dish you can use to refrigerate your Jello.

This Jello is super festive and great for Memorial Day and July 4th festivities. It doesn't take long to make, just have to bear with the chillin time to make sure it sets!

    Ingredients:

    • Red Jello Box - 6oz
    • Blue Jello Box - 6oz
    • Sweetened Condensed Milk - 1 can
    • Boiling Water
    • Unflavored Gelatin

    Directions:

Step One - Spray a 13x9 in pan with non-stick cooking spray. You will need to place some ingredients in the freezer so go ahead and prepare a level space in your freezer

Step Two - Next prepare your equipment you will need and lay out 7 bowls. I used 4 large & 3 small.

sweetened condensed milk and geltain mixed in white bowls

Step Three - In each of the large bowls place 3 oz of red or blue Jello and 1 package of unflavored gelatin.  Pour 1 cup of boiling water into each bowl and stir until the gelatin is completely dissolved.

Step Four - Combine the remainder of the boiling water 1 ¼ cups with 2 packages of unflavored gelatin and stir until completely dissolved, pour in the sweetened condensed milk and mix well.

Step Five - Divide the sweetened condensed mixture evenly between 3 small bowls and set aside.

Step Six - Pour one of the bowls of blue Jello into the bottom of your prepared pan and place it in the freezer for 5 minutes.

adding the blue Jello mix to the baking dish

Step Seven - Pour one of the bowls of the white gelatin mixture evenly over the blue and place it back in the freezer for 10 minutes.

Step Eight - Continue alternating colored and white Jello creating a striped pattern. Freezing for 5 minutes after the colored layers and 10 minutes after the white layers.

Step Nine - Once the last layer has been added put in the refrigerator and allow to set and chill for at least 3 hours. I will flash chill it in the freezer for 5 minutes once the last red layer is added, then move to the fridge.

This dish is a great recipe for a summer BBQ. I know you all will love it. If you are looking for other recipes featuring Red White and Blue colors check out this awesome roundup I made!

Why freeze in between the layers?

So I freeze the layers so that that set and harden faster.

You can use a refrigerator but the get them to set so you can do the layers, takes about 15-20 minutes per layer.

That would make this recipe way longer than it already is with all the layers. So I opt to use my freezer to speed it all up.
