Ingredients

  • 2 pounds red potatoes
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup milk (add more or less to get the consistency you want)
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (or to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper (or to taste)

Instructions

  1. Gently peel potatoes (I like to keep a little skin on but you can peel if all if you prefer) then dice. Place in a large pot and cover with water. Cook on medium/high heat until boiling and allow potatoes to cook until tender.
  2. Once tender drain water and return potatoes to the warm pot. Add butter, milk, and sour cream. Use a masher to mash potatoes until creamy. Add garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Continue to use a masher or for a creamy potato use a hand mixer to mix and mash.

  3. Add garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Continue to use a masher or for a creamy potato use a hand mixer to mix and mash. Serve and enjoy!
