White Cheddar Mac and Cheese

Jennie Duncan
This White Cheddar Cheese is so rich and creamy it rivals the famous Panera Mac and Cheese. While this may not be a copycat recipe, it tastes so great and is super gooey and creamy everyone will love it!

Equipment

  • 6-QT Pot

Ingredients

  • 16 oz small pasta shells
  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder (or to taste)
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder (or to taste)
  • ½ teaspoon pepper (or to taste)
  • ¼ teaspoon salt (or to taste)
  • 4 cups milk (I used 2%)
  • 4 cups white cheddar cheese (shredded)

Instructions

  • Cook pasta according to package directions. Once cooked drain.
  • Meanwhile prepare your cheese sauce by melting butter in a pot over medium heat.
  • Mix all seasoning in with your flour. Once butter is melted sprinkle in seasoned flour while whisking until butter and flour are combined.
  • Slowly whisk in milk about ½ cup at a time. Stir constantly while bringing to a boil. Keep stirring allowing your sauce to thicken. This could take 5-6 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and add in shredded cheese and stir until cheese is melted.
  • Add in cooked and drain pasta and stir until pasta is coated in cheese sauce.
