A new spin on an old classic. Growing up Sloppy Joes where a favorite of mine but as an adult, this Philly Cheesesteak Sloppy Joes definitely takes the cake! Yes I took two classically messy sandwiches and combined them into one gloriously Sloppy and Cheesy Sandwich!

Ingredients
  

  • 1 tablespoon Oil
  • 1 pound Ground beef
  • 1 small onion (diced)
  • 1 small green pepper (diced)
  • 2 tablespoons Ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ teaspoon Salt (to taste)
  • ¼ teaspoon Pepper (to taste)
  • 1 cup Beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Cornstarch
  • 6 slices Provolone cheese (chopped)
  • 6 Buns

Instructions
 

  • Warm oil in a large skillet. Cook and crumble ground beef. Add diced onion and green peppers and cook until tender.
  • Add to the skillet ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, beef broth, and corn starch. Cook and stir until your sloppy joes are slightly thickened.
  • Turn heat to low and add in chopped provolone cheese, cook and mix until cheese is melted. Serve warm on a bun and enjoy!

Notes

Can I make Sloppy Joes ahead of time?
Sloppy Joes are super easy to make, but if you need to make them ahead of time you definitely can. Once you make them store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator. They can be stored for up to 7 days after making them.
How do I reheat Sloppy Joes?
The best way to reheat Sloppy Joes is to add them back to a skillet and heat them on medium heat. Add in some beef broth for the Philly Cheesesteak Sloppy Joes to loosen everything up and get things saucy again. If you don't have any beef broth, a little tomato sauce will help as well, but it will change the flavor slightly.
Can you freeze Sloppy Joes?
Sloppy Joes can be frozen. Once they are cooked, allow them to fully cool. Store the Sloppy Joes in a freezer-safe airtight container. The Sloppy Joes can be stored in the freezer for up to 3 months. Follow the directions above for reheating them, once they are thawed out.
