Ingredients

Apple Base

  • 5 large granny smith apples
  • 1 1/2 cups brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg

Cobbler Topping

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Prepare a 2 quart casserole dish with non-stick cooking spray and set aside.

  2. Peel and slice apples then place them in a mixing bowl. Mix your apples with brown sugar, ground cinnamon, and nutmeg.

  3. Add seasoned apples to the bottom of your prepared casserole dish.

  4. In a separate mixing bowl mix together your melted butter, sugar, vanilla, flour, and baking powder. Mix until combined but don't over mix. Once just mixed spoon on top of your apples.

  5. Bake for 25-30 minutes. Remove from oven and allow to cool for 15 minutes before serving.

Recipe Notes

Use a slotted spoon to make sure you don't add too much of the water (from apples) at the bottom of the mixing bowl to your cobbler.
