Ingredients for the Apple Base

Granny Smith Apples – These are my favorite apple to use for this recipe. You can use another kind of apple if you prefer.

Brown Sugar – really makes the apple base sweet.

Seasoning – I used ground cinnamon and nutmeg.

Ingredients for the Crumble Topping:

Baking Powder – helps keep the crumble topping light and tender.

Unsalted Butter – melted to be able to mix everything together.

Sugar – make the topping crumbly.

Vanilla Extract – adds a nice, sweet flavor.

All-Purpose Flour – the key ingredient for making a crumble topping.

What is a Cobbler:

A cobbler is traditionally made with a fruit base and then topped with a batter that closely resembles a biscuit or dumpling.

What Goes Best on top of a Cobbler?

A warm cobbler is served best with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream on top of it. There is something about the coolness of the whipped cream or ice cream that melts perfectly into the warm cobbler.

How to Freeze Apple Cobbler:

To freeze this cobbler follow the directions below then when done cooking allow it to cool completely.

Once cooled seal well and then place in the freezer for up to 6 months.

When you are ready to serve allow it to thaw in the fridge overnight. Place in the oven to heat through.
