There is just something about topping pies and treats with your own Homemade Whipped Cream. It comes out perfectly every time and tastes amazing.

If I’m being honest, I could skip the pie and eat this with a spoon.

It’s that good! Top it on pies this holiday season or use it as a dip for fruit. Either way you have it I think you are going to love it.

How to make Homemade Whipped Cream:

Whipped cream is very easy to make. Only three ingredients are all you need for this recipe.

Pour the ingredients into a stand mixer and mix with the whisk attachment. Mix until the ingredients turn into the whipped cream.

Add to a piping bag and top your dessert.

Ingredient Notes:

  • Heavy Whipping Cream
  • Powdered Sugar: Also called confectioners’ sugar and icing sugar.
  • Vanilla Extract
ingredients for the whipped cream.

Directions:

Step One – I start by chilling the bowl I will be using. Just make sure what you are using is safe to be chilled.

A metal or glass bowl works best. Place it in the fridge for 15-20 minutes at least.

Step Three – Use a hand-held mixer or a stand mixer with a whisk attachment to beat all ingredients medium to high speed.

Continue to whisk until soft peaks form.

Step Four – Serve immediately or store in a container in the fridge.

For best results use right away for topping.

Tips for making a good whipped cream:

  1. Make sure the heavy whipping cream is cold – This is probably the most important step. Keep your whipping cream in the refrigerator until you are ready to use it. This is also why I like to chill the bowl ahead of time so that it helps keep the whipped cream cold during mixing.
  2. Use Heavy Whipping Cream – The fat content really makes the whipped cream hold its shape well. You can use whipping cream but it is lighter in milk fat, making a “lighter” whipped cream.
  3. Watch closely when mixing – You can easily overmix whipped cream which will result in a thick almost curdled cream. If that happens add in a tablespoon of cream at a time and remix to get the fluffy texture you want.

  1. Whenever we have whipped cream I only make my own. Some fun additions, stir in different flavorings, cinnamon (great for the fall on apple pie) and cocoa to make chocolate whipped cream. There is nothing like fresh whipped cream.

    1. Yum! The cinnamon whipped cream sounds perfect for apple pie! Thanks for stopping my Michelle!

  2. Great post, Jennie. I know this is wrong, but I never make my own whipped cream. I always cheat and buy the Cool Whip kind, and that’s so wrong. I should start making my own whipped cream because it’s really simple to do. My mom used to do this. She made her own whipped cream and meringues. She made a killer Coconut Cream Pie, and her Lemon Meringue Pie won a blue ribbon. This is great info. Thank you for your post.
