This recipe is so simple and so good! I used canned biscuit dough and lots of butter for this classic Monkey Bread recipe. A classic breakfast food that I usually make for any holiday morning meal.
Monkey Bread is such a classic! It’s the perfect sweet treat for breakfast or brunch and a personal favorite of mine.
It’s so simple to make. Follow the directions and have a nice, sweet treat for breakfast.
How to Make Monkey Bread:
As I said, this recipe is really easy to make. I used canned biscuit dough tossed in cinnamon sugar then layered it with butter and brown sugar.
Bake and it’s ready to be pulled apart and enjoyed!
Ingredient Notes:
- Refrigerated Can Biscuits: You need roughly 24 ounces. So I used 3 8oz cans.
- Granulated Sugar: This is your typical table sugar.
- Ground Cinnamon
- Butter: I used unsalted butter.
- Brown Sugar: That has been packed.
Directions:
Step One: Get started by preheating the oven to 350 degrees F.
Then prepare a bundt pan (I love this pan) with a good amount of nonstick cooking spray or with additional butter.
Step Two: Now you want to add granulated sugar and ground cinnamon to a large plastic baggy.
Cut or tear biscuits into 4 quarters and place them into the bag.
Shake and coat all biscuit pieces with cinnamon sugar mixture.
Once they are coated go ahead and set aside.
Step three: Next we will place the butter and brown sugar into a small saucepan.
Over medium heat bring it to a boil then immediately remove from heat.
- Cooking Tip – Be sure to watch carefully while cooking so it does not burn.
Step four: Now we will use that prepared pan to add in the dough and butter mixture.
Start by adding a layer of coated biscuits to your bundt pan and spoon in some of your butter and brown sugar sauce.
Keep doing this until your pan and full and then add all remaining sauce to the top.
Baking Directions:
Step five: Now that you are ready to bake place your monkey bread in the preheated oven.
Bake for 30-40 minutes or until cooked through and golden brown. Make sure to allow resting in the pan for several minutes before removing it.
Cooking Tip:
To remove monkey bread from the pan, cover the top with a large plate then flip over so the plate is on the bottom.
Allow it to sit for several minutes then pick up the bundt pan and your monkey bread should be sitting on the plate.
This can get very sticky so before cooking so make sure you are putting a good amount of butter or spray on your pan before baking.
FAQs for Monkey Bread:
Can I make my own biscuits? Yes, you 100% can make your own biscuits for this recipe.
I just love making things sometimes that are super simple and easy, so premade biscuits are just that.
Easy to use and make quickly, but you definitely can make your own if you wish!
Can I use any kind of pre-made biscuits? I recommend just a classic, standard breakfast biscuit.
There’s a lot of butter already in the biscuits so using a butter or buttermilk biscuit will add extra oil/grease to the Monkey Bread.
How to store Monkey Bread:
Growing up my mom and my husband’s mom both had a Tupperware container shaped for and made to fit Bundt Cakes.
If you have one of those, use that, but unfortunately, I do not. I like to wrap it in plastic wrap on the plate. Cover in plastic wrap to keep the air from drying it out.
Do not store it in the refrigerator. Monkey Bread should not be frozen as well.
