Hershey Pie is a timeless no-bake dessert that’s rich, creamy, and incredibly easy to make. With smooth chocolate filling and a crunchy chocolate cookie crust, this pie delivers big chocolate flavor without turning on the oven.

Perfect for holidays, parties, or anytime you’re craving an easy chocolate dessert, Hershey Pie is always a crowd favorite.

How to make the Hershey Pie:

If making a homemade pie crust, prepare that first. Then you want to melt your Hershey Bars. Once they are melted, you want to fold in the Cool Whip with the melted chocolate. Spread the Cool Whip mixture into the pie crust and then place in the refrigerator to chill for a few hours. Once ready to serve, top the pie with some of the Hershey squares around the edge of the crust. Slice and serve.

ingredients for the Hershey Pie

Ingredients

Graham cracker crust: You can make your own or buy a store bought crust. While I love making one homemade this recipe meant to be quick and easy so store bought works great.

Cool whip: Make sure your cool whip is thawed

Hershey Bars: You can use milk chocolate bars or Hershey Bars with almonds.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I make Hershey Pie ahead of time?
Yes! It’s best when chilled overnight.

Can I freeze Hershey Pie?
Absolutely. Freeze uncovered until firm, then wrap tightly.

What toppings work best?
Chocolate shavings, whipped cream, or chocolate drizzle are great options.

Hershey Almond: We love changing up this classic and using Hershey Milk Chocolate Bars with Almonds. Melt them just like you would the other bars and following the directions.

How many Hershey Bars? Use  5 (1.45 oz) bars with almond or 5 (1 oz) bars regular milk chocolate bars.

Try another crust:  An Oreo Cookie Crust would be a great alternate option.

Garnish: I used an extra Hershey bar to use as garnish.

  1. We use to have Peppermint pie at Christmas but it included raw eggs so we don’t make it anymore. I am going to try with a small amount of Peppermint flavoring. I think it will be great…

    1. Oh no, sorry that happened Kristi. You can try heating all of it even the cool whip then adding it to the pie crust.

  2. You think this would freeze ok? I need to make a few pies for the shelter, but I’m going out of town a few days before they have their dinner.

    1. Hi Torrie! I have not yet tried freezing this pie but I think it would work well. The cool whip is usually frozen when I buy it so I think it would refreeze easily then just let is thaw slightly before servings. I hope you enjoy it and let me know how it turns out freezing it.

  3. Hi from sunny Florida. My mouth is watering while reading your yum-o recipe and the simplicity of it. I plan to double your recipe and make two pies during the upcoming holiday season when family members all gather at my home for Christmas dinner I’m a certified chocoholic! You might already know that Cool Whip now comes in chocolate flavor, and I literally eat it out of the container like pudding. LOL

I hope you and your guest enjoy it, let me know how it turns out!

  4. I always put a couple of tablespoons of cooled coffee in the cool whip before I combine it with the chocolate.

    1. Don’t do what I just did….I added hot coffee to the Hersey Bars before microwaving. It caused the chocolate to harden and I guess It’s ruined…I looked online to find a remedy and all I saw was if you are using a double boiler to melt the chocolate, Don’t let the steam turn to water drops and mix with the chocolate or it will ruin it….

      1. I know. I’ve had the chocolate harder on me many times. And it’s such a pain to clean up when that happens!
