These Sweet Potato Fries make the perfect side dish! Baked with the perfect seasonings and served with ketchup. I couldn’t think of anything better.
Today I want to share with you these Sweet Potato Fries that are the perfect side to any meal and a family favorite. Sweet potato fries are my hubby’s favorite. I don’t discriminate, I love all fries!
I make my sweet potato fries two different ways, savory and sweet. This recipe is the savory style fry. They are absolutely perfect for grilling season and make the perfect side to a burger!
How to make Sweet Potato Fries:
Sweet Potato Fries unfortunately are somewhat tedious of a side dish to make. You have to first peel and thinly slice the sweet potatoes into your fries.
I say tedious because peeling and slicing potatoes can be a very long process depending on how many potatoes you are using.
Once that is done the baking process is fairly simple, but again when dealing with potatoes things just seem to take a tad longer, i.e. preparing and baking.
Ingredients:
- Sweet Potatoes
- Oil
- Spices for seasoning
Directions:
Step One – Peel and cut sweet potatoes into even fry or wedge sizes. Preheat the oven too 400 degrees F.
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or with non stick cooking spray and set aside.
- Tip: For a crispier fry, preheat your baking sheet in the oven before adding the fries to the sheet pan.
Step Two – Place peeled and cut sweet potatoes into a large bowl.
Step Three – Add in oil and toss to coat.
Step Four – In a separate bowl whisk all seasonings. Add this to potatoes and toss again to coat. Place on prepared baking sheet.
What seasoning do you use on sweet potato fries:
- Paprika
- Oregano
- Garlic
- Salt
- Pepper
- Cook for 20-25 minutes flipping half way thought. Time will vary on how thick your potatoes are sliced so keep an eye on them and allow to cook until tender.
Tips for Baking Sweet Potato Fries:
- If you want a crispier sweet potato fry, I recommend putting some parchment paper on the bottom of the baking sheet.
- Preheat your baking sheet in the oven for a few minutes before adding the fries for baking.
- Oven placement also helps in the crispiness. The higher the pan is in the oven, the crispier they will be.
Should I presoak my Sweet Potato Fries?
So I have tried both ways, and to be honest there is not much difference. I honestly do not think presoaking these fries are worth the extra time and effort it takes to do that. There is not a noticeable difference in the crispiness of the fries when doing this.
How many sweet potatoes are in 1 pound?
Sweet potatoes come in all shapes and sizes so it’s hard to say but 2 large sweet potatoes or abut 3 medium ones could equal a pound.
For this recipe I would buy 3 medium potatoes, they will be much easier to slice then the large ones.
