When Thanksgiving and Christmas ends my baking however does not! With one holiday down baking for the next holiday starts.

Valentine's Day is the next holiday on the calendar I start baking for. I love making fun treats for friends and family, and these M&M Pretzel Hugs are a great treat to make for Valentine's Day parties and events you go to.

How to make Valentine's Day Pretzel Hugs:

These festive treats are super easy to make. Arrange your pretzels on a baking sheet and place a Hug on the center of the square.

Once heated and melted a tiny bit, place the M&M on top and allow it to set in place. Allow to cool and enjoy!

    Ingredients:

    • Hershey's Hugs Candy
    • M&M Candies
    • Square Pretzels

    ingredients for pretzel hugs

Equipment you will need for this recipe:

    1. Baking Sheet - I used a sheet that was 18 x 13 in size.
    2. Parchment Paper -
    3. Storage Container - I love these containers with the nice locking snaps. These work great.

    Directions:

Step One - Preheat the oven to 200 degrees. While the oven is heating, unwrap all of the Hershey hugs and set them aside.

Step Two: Prepare a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Next, arrange the desired amount of pretzels on the parchment-lined baking sheet.

aligning the pretzels on the baking sheet

Step Three: Top each square pretzel with one Hershey’s hug. Ensure the hug is in the center of the pretzel to avoid spill over.

Step Four: Once all of the hugs are in place, put the baking sheet in the oven for 3 minutes 30 seconds or until the hugs are slightly melted.

    • Cooking Tip: Watch these carefully as you do not want a fully melted soupy mess with the chocolate. If more time is needed watch and check in 3o second intervals.

Step Five: Remove from the oven. Using a toothpick, gently spread each hug to cover the chocolate on the pretzel.

Step Six: Gently set in place one M & M in the center of each hug. Ensure you do not press down or the chocolate may run over the edge of the pretzel. Repeat this step until all the hugs have an M & M.

adding the M&M to the top of the melted hug

Step Seven: Place on a cooling rack to cool at room temperature or you can also place them in the refrigerator or freezer for an expedited cooling.

using a spatula to serve the pretzel hugs

Step Eight: Package in your favorite airtight jar or tin for a cute gift or serve immediately and enjoy!

How do you store these Pretzel Hugs?

I place them in an airtight food storage container. If you do not have a good container to use, you could also use plastic ziplock baggies. They should last 10-12 days in a sealed container or baggie.

    Can you freeze these treats?

These Pretzel M&M Hugs can be frozen in a freezer safe container or plastic zip lock baggie for up to 3 months. Thaw in container on counter before eating.

Change ups for these M&M Pretzel Hugs:

You can change these Pretzel Hugs up a lot of different ways. Try these different option:

    1. Use a Hershey Kiss or other Kiss-like candy if you can't find the Hugs style.
    2. Use Peanut or Peanut Butter M&M's for a different taste and look.
    3. Add a Mini Reese's Peanut Butter Cup to the top instead of the M&M.
