I have been making Sloppy Joes for years. My mom made them all the time growing up. They are easy and quick to make so that is why we had them a lot.

My husband got a Philly Cheesesteak from a local sub show a while ago, and it was great. This is what inspired me to try it out, but with a twist. These Philly Cheesesteak Sloppy Joes are cheesy and very sloppy. I hope you enjoy them!

How to make Philly Cheesesteak Sloppy Joes:

Start by cooking and preparing the ground beef. Add in the green peppers and onions and cook them until they are tender. Add in the other ingredients and cook until the sloppy Joes are saucy. Mix in your provolone cheese until it is melted. Serve on some nice hamburger buns.

Ingredient Notes:

  • Onion (diced)
  • Green Pepper (diced)
  • Ketchup
  • Worcestershire Sauce
  • Salt & Pepper

Can I make Sloppy Joes ahead of time?

Sloppy Joes are super easy to make, but if you need to make them ahead of time you definitely can.

Once you make them store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator. They can be stored for up to 7 days after making them.

How do I reheat Sloppy Joes?

The best way to reheat Sloppy Joes is to add them back to a skillet and heat them on medium heat.

Add in some beef broth for the Philly Cheesesteak Sloppy Joes to loosen everything up and get things saucy again. If you don’t have any beef broth, a little tomato sauce will help as well, but it will change the flavor slightly.

Can you freeze Sloppy Joes?

Sloppy Joes can be frozen. Once they are cooked, allow them to fully cool. Store the Sloppy Joes in a freezer-safe airtight container.

The Sloppy Joes can be stored in the freezer for up to 3 months. Follow the directions above for reheating them, once they are thawed out.

    Kelly

    1. Hi Kelly! I am so glad you liked it! If you want to double the recipe just click x2 on the recipe card and it should adjust all the ingredients for you! Hope you enjoy it!

  2. I made this recipe last night. Followed recipe but added 1/2 tsp garlic powder and 1/2 tsp of onion powder and toasted the buns. My husband and I absolutely loved it and will be making again.

  3. Loved the flavor, a little too salty for me. Will try it again eliminating the extra salt. Thereโ€™s plenty of salt from ketchup, broth, Worcestershire and cheese.
