Nothing beats a hot fudge sundae in my opinion. It is one of the best desserts to make for kids, and you can have so much fun when making them.

This recipe for Homemade Hot Fudge is perfect for any sundae lover. Pour it on top of your ice cream, and top it with some whipped cream, sprinkles and a maraschino cherry.

How to make Homemade Hot Fudge:

Made with just three ingredients, this hot fudge is super easy to make. Start by heating your condensed milk and chocolate chips together in a saucepan.

Heat slowly and on a low to medium heat to prevent burning.

Once the chips are melted and everything is mixed together well, take off the heat and add the butter.

The Hot Fudge will melt the butter. Stir them all together well, and you are ready to serve.

    Ingredients:

    • Sweetened Condensed Milk
    • Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
    • Unsalted Butter

    ingredients for homemade hot fudge.

    Directions:

Step One - Place sweetened condensed milk and semi-sweet chocolate chips in a saucepan and heat over medium heat until melted and smooth while stirring constantly.

pouring the chocolate chips into the condensed milk.

Step Two - Remove sauce from heat and add in butter and mix until butter is melted.

    whisking up the hot fudge.

Step Three - Pour hot fudge into a glass jar and serve or store.

scooping the hot fudge with a spoon.

Step Four - To store your hot fudge cover and refrigerate for 1-2 weeks. Reheat in the microwave when you are ready to serve.

What is the difference between Hot Fudge and Chocolate Syrup?

Hot Fudge is a thicker sauce that is made with cream or condensed milk, butter and chocolate.

Chocolate syrup is usually made with corn syrup, water and chocolate.

The water makes chocolate syrup the runnier sauce.

Why do you add butter to hot fudge?

The addition of a fat into hot fudge is essential to make it spreadable.

The butter adds what extra is needed so the chocolate doesn't seize or harden beyond saving.

The butter adds just enough fat to keep things smooth.

    How to store hot fudge?

Store hot fudge in a sealed covered container in the refrigerator until ready to use.

When you are ready to use it take it out and microwave it on 30 second intervals stirring in between until it is hot.

You can also warm it up in a saucepan on the stove.
