Milkshakes are a classic dessert that people have been enjoying for years. From classic soda shops selling shakes and malts to custom milkshake bars that sell milkshakes loaded with everything and the kitchen sink on them, milkshakes are one of the world’s favorite desserts.

This Banana Milkshake reminds of a classic milkshake I would get from Friendly’s or Big Boy’s when I was a kid. Smooth and creamy vanilla ice cream perfectly blended with fresh bananas makes the perfect dessert!

How to make a Banana Milkshake:

Making a milkshake is super easy!

Basically, all you have to do is put your ingredients into your blender and then blend it up! So add your ice cream, sliced bananas, milk and vanilla extract in your blender.

Blend until you have the consistency you desire. If needed add more milk to make it thinner or more ice cream to make it thicker.

Ingredient Notes:

  • Vanilla Ice Cream – Use whichever Vanilla Ice Cream style you prefer. We used French Vanilla for this.
  • Milk – Use any milk you wish. I used skim milk. You could use a milk alternative like almond or oat milk, but it may change the flavor slightly.
  • Banana
  • Vanilla Extract
  • Optional for topping: whipped cream and banana slices

  • Tip – Slice your bananas before adding them to the blender to make the blending process easier.

Step Two – Blend until creamy and add more milk as needed to get your desired texture.

  • Tip: Use whatever milk you want. I used skim for this recipe.

Optional Step: Serve topped with whipped cream and sliced banana.

Unfortunately, this is a drink that you need to enjoy when you make it.

It will melt and no longer be “frozen” pretty quickly.

If you try to refreeze it, it will turn into ice and not keep the milkshake texture you want.

  1. Really good! I made it gluten-free and dairy-free using oatmilk vanilla ice cream, almond milk, and gluten free graham crackers as substitutes. My husband said it tastes better than chick fil aโ€™s!
