So whatever trending food or drink is on TikTok is usually really crazy or extravagant for me to make.

Well when I heard about this Dirty Soda, and saw some videos of it, I just HAD to try it! It’s basically a soda “dirtied up” with a splash of cream and a squeeze of citrus, and it’s every bit as good as the hype.

If you love playing around with fun drink combos, you’ll also want to try my Peach Sweet Tea, Homemade Lemonade, or Cherry Limeade for more refreshing sips to keep on rotation.

What is a Dirty Soda?

A Dirty Soda is a soda drink that has added cream or syrups usually that are fruit flavored.

A soda shop in Utah called  Swig is the originator of Dirty Sodas.

Ingredient Notes:

  • Diet Coke – you can use regular as well but it will have a different flavor
  • Coconut Creamer – you can also use coconut syrup and cream if you can’t find this creamer.
  • Lime – a fresh lime or lime juice.

Directions:

Step One – Add Diet Coke to a glass with ice.

Recipe Tip

Use crushed or nugget ice if you can find it. It melts a little faster and gives the soda that classic soda-shop texture.

Step Two – Add coconut creamer to your Diet Coke.

Allow it to mix in with the soda naturally and create the foamy fizz.

Step Three – Squeeze the juice from ½ lime. Mix and serve.

Recipe Tip

Give it a gentle stir rather than a hard mix so you don’t lose the fizz. Taste and add a little more lime if you like it extra tart.

Try some other Dirty Sodas!

I highly recommend using the Swig site to get some other flavor ideas for different Dirty Sodas.

Diet Dr. Pepper is a popular option along with Mountain Dew or Sprite.

Adding other flavored creams and syrups really create a wide variety of flavor options. While this recipe I made is one of the classics there are a few other varieties I love a lot too.

Dirty Dr. Pepper: Dr. Pepper and Coconut Cream

Life’s a Peach: Dr. Pepper, Vanilla Syrup, Peach Syrup, and Half & Half.

Endless Summer: Mountain Dew, Pomegranate Syrup, Grapefruit Syrup, and Lime.

Loop-T-Loop: Sprite, Strawberry Syrup, Watermelon Syrup, and Peach Syrup.

Ingredients

  • 8 oz Diet Coke
  • 1/4 cup Coconut Creamer
  • 1/2 Lime

Instructions

  • Add Diet Coke to a glass with ice.
  • Add coconut creamer to your Diet Coke.
  • Squeeze the juice from 1/2 lime. Mix and serve.

Notes

Use crushed or nugget ice if you can find it for the best soda-shop texture.
Regular Coke works fine instead of Diet, just note the flavor and sweetness will be a bit different.
Can’t find coconut creamer? Use ¼ cup half and half or heavy cream plus 1 tablespoon coconut syrup instead.
Pour the creamer in slowly and let it settle before stirring, this gives you that classic layered look.
Best enjoyed fresh. The fizz fades quickly once mixed, so make it right before serving.
