Making dinner in the slow cooker is one of the best and easiest ways to plan out dinner when your days are busy.
Just throw your ingredients in the slow cooker and go about your day. This Mississippi Chicken is very much like my Mississippi Pot Roast recipe, just made with chicken.
This recipe is served best with some mashed potatoes or rice and another veggie on the side. Check near the recipe card for some recommended side dishes.
How to make Slow Cooker Mississippi Chicken:
As with all my slow cooker recipes I try to make them as easy as possible. This Mississippi Chicken is just as easy as they come.
Just put all your ingredients into the crockpot and then turn it on and let it do the work.
Slowly cook the chicken for about 6 hours and it will be super tender and full of flavor.

- Dry Ranch Seasoning Mix
- Unsalted Butter
- Pepperoncini

Step One – Place chicken breast into your slow cooker. Sprinkle on au jus gravy mix and dry ranch seasoning mix.
Step Two – Next place unsalted butter and pepperoncini on to seasoned chicken and place the lid onto the slow cooker.

What is a Mississippi Chicken?
Mississippi Chicken are chicken breasts covered in seasoning, butter, and pepperoncini. The flavors of the ranch seasoning, au jus and butter calm down any heat you may expect from the pepperoncini.
It is cooked low and slow for 6 to 8 hours in a slow cooker, and that just brings out the amazing flavors in the meat.
While there is no official history behind the name, it was just originated from a chef in Mississippi. If our friend from church had not of told us about this, I may have never heard about it!
How do you serve Mississippi Chicken?
I typically serve mine on a layer of mashed potatoes. You can make your own or buy a premade family style mashed potato.
Now I have a lot of different mashed potato recipes on my blog, so I’ll just give you the World’s Best Mashed Potato recipe to use. You also can serve this on a bed of buttered white rice if you would like!
