I love that I made this entire meal in the crock-pot! Makes it so easy!
The best part is that I got all the ingredients at my local farmers market! Even though I didn’t grow/raise this myself I felt sort of like a pioneer woman since nothing was actually bought at a grocery store. Cheesy, yes, but it felt good to feed my family with a dinner that was so fresh.
1 Whole Chicken
Spices to season your chicken, you can use whatever it is you like but here is what I used;
1-Tablespoon Garlic Powder
Salt and pepper to taste.
Place chicken, potatoes, and green beans in Crockpot. I put the chicken in first and laid the potatoes cut into quarter pieces and green beans all around.
Mix all spices together in a bowl and sprinkle over chicken.
Pour 1 cup of water in the bottom of the Crockpot (be sure to not run the water over the chicken so the spices all stay on the chicken)
Let cook on low for 5-6 hours or until chicken is done.
When the chicken was done I saved all the bones, fat, and skin to make some homemade chicken stock! I’ll be posting the recipe for that soon!
Everything cost me less than $20 and could easily feed a family of four. Hope you all enjoy this easy dinner!
