Baked Potatoes are a side dish that have been served for centuries. People have been cooking them in the ground, in fire, in microwaves, in ovens, and slow cookers.
Well, now we also have the air fryer we can make potatoes in. I love my air fryer and I’ve been making a lot of side dishes and potato recipes in it lately. These Air Fryer Baked Potatoes are a great option to serve with dinner.
My favorite Air Fryer recipes I’ve made so far are my Roasted Potatoes, Brussel Sprouts, and my Broccoli.
How to make Air Fryer Baked Potatoes:
Baked Potatoes take a while to make regardless of how you make them.
Making Air Fryer Baked Potatoes do take about 40 minutes, but it pretty simple. Wash your potatoes, spray them with some oil and then bake them in the air fryer.
Serve them right away when they are done.
Ingredients Notes:
- Russet Potatoes – These potatoes work best but you can use any other type of potato.
- Kosher Salt – Salt draws out the moisture in a potato while baking to make it fluffy.
- Cooking Spray – Use whichever kind of spray you have on hand.
Directions:
Step One – Wash and scrub potatoes then pat them dry.
Step Two – Use a fork to poke your potato in several places.
Step Three – Spray with cooking spray and sprinkle with salt.
Step Four – Place your potato in the air fryer and cook at 400 degrees F for 25 minutes.
Remove basket from the air fryer and flip potatoes.
Step Five – Place back into the air fryer and cook for 10-15 minutes or until potatoes are fork tender.
Once cooked remove potatoes from air fryer and slice and serve.
Tips for a great baked potato:
- Clean and scrub your potatoes. Potato skins are good to eat and taste great with seasoned with salt. Clean them well and cut off any eyes that may be on them.
- Poke the potatoes with a fork. This will help any steam escape and prevent your potatoes from bursting.
- No tin foil needed. When baking potatoes in an air fryer you do not need to wrap your potatoes in aluminum foil.
Baked Potato Toppings:
Part of enjoying a baked potato is the toppings! You can top a baked potato with a variety of things and enjoy them however you like!
- Butter and Sour Cream – Yes, use both. There is something about butter and sour cream melting together on a hot potato that is so good! It’s a classic Baked Potato topping, and one almost everyone enjoys.
- Bacon – Use my Air Fryer Bacon recipe and put some crispy bacon on top of your potatoes.
- Cheese – Top your potato with your favorite shredded cheese!
- Chives or Green Onions – adding these to the top of a baked potato adds a nice little extra color and flavor to your dish.
