This recipe for the best Air Fryer Broccoli will become a favorite for dinner with your family. Perfectly roasted but in less than 10 minutes, these broccolis are crispy and a super healthy side dish for any meal.
Broccoli is one of my families’ favorite sides to go along with dinner.
We eat it a few nights a week and finding new ways to make it is very good, so the kids don’t get bored of just steamed broccoli.
Broccoli is super healthy, tastes great and can be cooked a variety of different ways.
We love roasted broccoli, but it takes a while to make, so when I got the idea to put them in the air fryer, they came out perfectly and in less than 10 minutes.
How to make Air Fryer Broccoli:
You start off by cutting your broccoli into small florets. You can use the stems if you want, but for this recipe I typically do not.
Oil and season the broccoli and then place them on your air fryer tray. Cook for about 8 minutes and then you are ready to serve.
This is a lot faster than my Roasted Broccoli recipe so I recommend this if you are in a time crunch!
Ingredient Notes:
- Broccoli: Use fresh broccoli cut into bite-sized pieces.
- Oil: I like to use avocado oil or olive oil but any oil you have at home will work.
- Seasoning: I used garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- Water
Directions:
Step One: Cut broccoli into small bite-size florets.
Step Two: Place broccoli into a mixing bowl with oil and toss to coat. Season with garlic powder, salt, and pepper and toss to coat.
Step Three: Pour 1 tablespoon water into the bottom of your air fryer basket.
This goes into the pan but under the basket or grill plate depending on your air fryer type.
Recipe Tip
The water helps in the cooking process and limits the smoke the air fryer may cause when cooking.
Step Four: Place broccoli into the air fryer basket and cook at 400 degrees for 8 minutes.
Removing and shaking the basket in the middle of cooking.
Step Five: Once cooked remove the broccoli from the air fryer and serve.
Optional Step: I topped mine with sea salt and garnished with lemon slices.
Why use the Air Fryer for broccoli?
An Air Fryer is a relatively newer kitchen tool. I just recently got on this past year, so they are also new to me using them!
Using an air fryer definitely has some added benefits to them then pan frying or roasting vegetables. You typically use less oil when Air Frying, so the calorie count is lower because of the less oil used.
Also, when using an air fryer for vegetables, a lot of the nutrients that are baked or cooked off when roasting or baking at a high heat for a long period of time are not lost in air frying.
Thus, giving you a more nutritious veggie!
Can I use frozen broccoli in the air fryer?
Yes, you sure can! The added moisture in the broccoli will help the air fryer smoke less.
You may need to add an extra 2 or 3 minutes to the cook time if using frozen broccoli.
How do you reheat leftover Air Fryer Broccoli?
When you need to reheat leftover air fried veggies, just turn your air fryer on to preheat it.
Place your leftover broccoli in the air fryer basket and reheat for a few minutes.
