I bake like crazy leading up to Christmas. From Thanksgiving until the week of Christmas I am making treats and cookies and fudge with the kids.

They love it, and they definitely love to eat everything we make.

These Christmas M&M Cookies are so festive and fun. The kids love them, and so will everyone else.

How to make Christmas M&M Cookies:

Like almost every cookie recipe out there, you start the same way. Mix your sugars and wet ingredients together and whisk and mix your dry ingredients together.

Combine them both slowly with a stand mixer or hand mixer. Fold in your chocolate chips and M&Ms. You can chill for about 1 hour in the refrigerator.

Roll the dough into about 2-inch balls and place on the baking sheet. Bake for about 10 minutes, and then enjoy!

    Ingredients:

    • Butter - unsalted butter that has been softened to room temperature
    • Brown Sugar - I used light brown sugar
    • Sugar - white table sugar
    • Egg - Let your eggs set out to get to room temperature
    • Vanilla Extract
    • All-Purpose Flour
    • Baking Soda
    • Baking Powder
    • Salt
    • Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips - milk chocolate works as well but will be much sweeter
    • Christmas Colored M&Ms - change the color for any holiday or occasion

mixing the dry ingredients for the cookies.

Step Three - Slowly mix this add this to your mixture until combined.

Step Four - Preheat oven to 350 degrees and prepare a baking sheet with non-stick cooking spray or a baking liner.

Why do you chill cookie dough before baking?

Always chill the batter before baking. This way cookies will spread less, be in uniform size and more round shape.

    For perfect round shaped cookies:

Once cookies are baked, place a medium size cookie cutter or a round glass/mug on top of the cookie and swirl around a few times.

The more you swirl the smaller and thicker cookies will become.

    Tips and FAQ:

Don't Over-Bake: It's important to not over bake your cookies. When you remove your cookie, they might not look done but they will continue to cook on the pan.

Don't Over-Mix: Over mixing your cookies they could come out of the oven flat. Make sure to mix until just combined.

Freezing Cookie Dough: Place them on a sheet pan and into the freezer. This way they all freeze individually without getting stuck together.

Once they are frozen you can place them all in a large freezer bag together.

Baking Frozen Cookie Dough: Start by removing the cookie dough from your freezer.

Take out the cookie dough balls from the baggy and place on a baking dish to thaw.

Once the cookie dough is back to room temperature you can bake them according to directions.
