We love our local Asian restaurant. It is a Japanese Hibachi restaurant, but it also has a few Chinese dishes as well.
One thing we never skip is their egg rolls. They are one of the best side dishes with any Asian food. Well, this love of egg rolls led me to this recipe for you all!
Making this easy Low Carb Egg Roll in a Bowl:
You all know I love an easy recipe! I’ve seen the egg roll in a bowl floating around Pinterest and finally decided I had to try to make my own version.
I, of course, had to only make one that was simple to make and taste great. This version is so good, and you only need a few simple ingredients.
Ingredient Notes:
- Ground Sausage: you can use ground beef or turkey as well but I think the sausage gives it the best flavor.
- Coleslaw Mix: this saves me a lot of time but you can shred your own vegetables as well.
- Minced Garlic
- Ground Ginger
- Soy Sauce
- Green Onions (diced)
Directions:
Step One: Cook and crumble ground sausage in a large pot. Once cooked drain fat.
- Tip: I love the flavors this ground pork sausage gives this recipe. You could also use ground beef, turkey, or chicken.
Step two: Add in coleslaw mix and season with minced garlic, ground ginger, and soy sauce. Cook until coleslaw mix is tender.
Step three: Serve topped with green onions. I garnish my bowl with sesame seeds.
Egg Roll in a Bowl Weight Watchers:
This recipe is perfect for someone who is using Weight Watchers since it’s low in carb and high in protein.
To make this recipe fewer points try using a ground turkey or chicken sausage instead of pork or using ground chicken.
I’m not affiliated with Weight Watchers in any way but have used it before. Make sure to double check this recipe with the points system you are using.

I’ve made this recipe many times. I often add other vegetables.
So delicious! I used a roll of Jimmy Dean (hot) Sausage.
This was excellent and so easy to make.
I make this weekly now. I add 1-2 tbsp sesame oil
1 tbs rice wine vinegar
Secret ingredient is 1/2 to 1 tsp cinnamon
Cinnamon? Hmmm… I will have to try that!
I used precooked turkey sausage crumbles, added some mushrooms, sesame and chili oils and a little lemongrass paste. Topped it with green onions and wonton strips. It was quick, easy and very good. This is a definite keeper. Thanks.
