How to make French Onion Chicken:
Start by slicing your chicken breasts and pounding them if they are too thick. Season and flour the chicken then cook them in a pan with the hot oil. Once the chicken is seared on both sides for about 3-4 minutes, set them aside. In the same pan cook the onions with the butter. Cook the onions and simmer them for about 30 minutes. Once the onions are ready add the chicken back to the pan, along with the French Onion Soup and Beef Broth. Cook for an additional 10-15 minutes until the chicken is fully cooked. Top with the cheese and allow it to melt. Serve and enjoy!

Ingredient Notes:
- Chicken Breast – Boneless, skinless chicken breasts cook quickly and work perfectly in this recipe. Chicken thighs can also be used.
- Paprika
- Garlic Powder
- Salt and Pepper to taste
- Flour
- Oil – I used EVOO.
- Butter – unsalted.
- Yellow Onion – These become sweet and flavorful as they cook, creating that classic French onion flavor.
- French Onion Soup
- Beef Broth – Adds depth and richness to the sauce.
- Shredded Mozzarella Cheese and Shredded Gruyere Cheese – These melt beautifully and pair well with the onions.

Directions:
Step One – Slice chicken length wise. Pound chicken as needed to ensure they are all even thickness. This will help make sure your chicken cooked evenly without drying out.
Step Two – Season chicken breast on both sides with paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Then sprinkle on flour.

Step Three – Heat oil in pan. Once heated add in chicken breast. Sear on each side 2-3 minutes then remove it from the pan and set it aside.

Step Four – In the same pan add butter. Cook until onions start to soften. Reduce heat and allow to cook on low for 30 minutes until caramelized. Stirring occasionally.

Step Five – Return chicken to pan. Add French onion soup and broth into your pan.
Step Six – Cook on medium for 10-15 minutes until chicken is cooked through.

Step Seven – Top with cheese and place lid back on until cheese is melted 2-3 minutes.
Tips for Best Results
