Need a fun and refreshing dessert for the summer? This Fruit Pizza is a real treat. A pizza made with a sugar cookie crust, topped with a cream cheese “sauce,” and topped with fresh fruit! Everyone will love this!
How to make Fruit Pizza:
Fruit Pizza does take some time to make; however, it is still pretty easy to make. Start by preparing the crust.
Once you have made the dough and formed it into the pizza crust, bake it in the oven. While the crust is baking you will want to prepare your cream cheese sauce and prepare the fruit for the topping.
Spread the sauce on the cooled crust and top with the fruit. Slice and enjoy!
Ingredient Notes:
This recipe has three main parts to create and make for this, the crust, sauce and fruit for topping.
Crust:
- All Purpose Flour – The base for the sugar cookie crust.
- Baking Soda
- Baking Powder
- Salted Butter – Softened but not melted.
- Sugar
- Egg
- Vanilla
Topping:
- Cream Cheese – Softened to be easily spread on the crust.
- Powdered Sugar – Sweetens the cream cheese to make the sauce.
- Vanilla – Adds flavor to the cream cheese “sauce.”
Filling:
- Red Grapes – Sliced in half to top the pizza.
- Strawberries – Sliced thin for the pizza.
- Blueberries
- Kiwi – Sliced thin for the pizza.
- Mandarin Orange Slices – Drained well. You do not want any excess juice.
- Apple Jelly – or any lightly colored jelly.
- Water
Directions:
Step One – Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
Step Two – In a mixing bowl stir together the flour, baking soda, and baking powder.
Step Three – Next in a large mixing bowl blend your butter and sugar together until light in color. Then add in the egg and vanilla. Continue to mix until smooth.
Step Four – Slowly add in the flour mixture and mix until well combined.
Step Five – Line a 12-inch pizza pan with parchment paper or foil. Then press or roll the dough until it covers the pan.
Step Six – Bake for 10-15 minutes until done. Cool completely before topping.
Step Seven – To make the topping blend the cream cheese, vanilla, and powdered sugar together until smooth. Then spread onto your crust.
Step Eight – Spread your fruit out evenly over the cream cheese topping pressing the fruit into the cream cheese if necessary.
Recipe Tip
If using canned mandarin oranges be sure to drain well before putting on the pizza.
Step Nine – Stir together the jelly and water then microwave for 30 seconds and stir again. Brush Jelly glaze onto the fruit to add sweetness and a nice glossy sheen.
Recipe Tip
If you don’t have apple jelly any light colored jelly will work.
Step Ten – Cut into slices and enjoy!
What are the best fruits to use for a Fruit Pizza?
These are my favorite fruits to use but you can use any fruit you like, but I do not recommend fruits that have a high-water content, such as watermelon. Raspberries, blackberries and cherries are great options as well.
Can I make this dessert ahead of time?
This can be made ahead of time but wait to add the fruit and glaze until ready to serve.
This is best served fresh, but leftovers can be stored in the fridge for 3 days.
