This simple Slow Cooker Dr. Pepper BBQ Chicken is one of our favorites. It's simple to make and one that the entire family will love. Just add it all to the slow cooker and shred it once cooked.

Slow Cooker Dr. Pepper BBQ Chicken

I have a real love for Dr. Pepper. It was my Granny's absolute favorite. The smell of Dr. Pepper still brings back memories of her. She always had a fridge stocked with cold cans of Dr. Pepper and even a fridge downstairs full of just cans of Dr. Pepper. A cold can is still the way  I prefer to drink it and think of her every time I do. This Slow Cooker Dr. Pepper BBQ Chicken is so simple to make a recipe that I love.

Slow Cooker Dr. Pepper BBQ Chicken

Slow Cooker Dr. Pepper BBQ Chicken:

Step one: Place chicken in the slow cooker and season with onion powder, garlic powder, and pepper.

Step two: Pour Dr. Pepper and BBQ sauce on your seasoned chicken and place lid on your slow cooker. Cook until chicken is cooked through.

Step three: Once the chicken is cooked through shred and serve. I served mine on buns.

    Side Dish Options:

    • Garlic Red Mashed Potatoes
    • Classic Coleslaw
    • Bacon Ranch Pasta Salad
    • Roasted Red Potatoes
    • Mini Corn Bread Muffins

How would this change if you used pre-shredded frozen chicken? 🙂

I would think it wouldn't change at all. Should be the same.

Can you use frozen thighs following the same recipe? I've seen frozen chicken with a cup of water, but I'm wondering if the DP and BBQ sauce would be ok.

Do you think it would work to use Diet Dr. Pepper?
