A perfectly moist cake that never fails. This S' mores Poke Cake is simply amazing. Full of flavor and topped with mini marshmallows. I pop them in the oven to broil to get them roasted just like it came off the campfire.

    Perfect Poke Cake:

Poke cakes are my favorite. It's no fail always perfectly moist. It's the perfect way to dress up a box cake and make it something special.

For this recipe, I used a chocolate box cake and I topped it with mini marshmallows. It was amazing.

I served this cake at my son's camping theme party and everyone loved it.

It's something just a little more special then a regular box cake yet it's still simple to make!

    What is a Poke Cake:

A poke cake is just that, a cake you poke! You fill it with jello, pudding, or in this case, sweetened condensed milk.

Instead of frosting you usually top a poke cake with a cool whip and for this cake I did marshmallows. Poke cakes are usually pretty sweet and adding frosting would be overkill.

If you want to see a recipe that I used jello and cool whip then check out this recipe, Patriotic Poke Cake.

How to make S'mores Poke Cake:

Step one: Preheat oven and then prepare a 9x13 pan with nonstick cooking spray and set aside.

Step two: Mix cake mix with eggs and oil. Bake for 23-28 minutes or until cooked through.

    • Tip: Check the cake box instructions. Your cake mix might call for other ingredients and have different cooking time. Follow those directions to prepare your cake.

Step three: Remove cake from oven and use the end of a wooden spoon to poke small holes all over the cake. Pour in sweetened condensed milk.

Step four: Top cake with mini marshmallows and place it back in the oven on broil for 20-30 seconds or until marshmallows are partially roasted. Remove from oven and serve. Your marshmallows can easily burn so keep a close eye on them.

    Serving Poke Cake:

Traditionally you would place your poke cake in the fridge to cool but for this recipe, I also love serving it warm. In my option, it tastes more like a real S'more when it is warm and melty.

If you prefer it chilled then allow your cake to cool and place it in the fridge for 2-3 hours before serving.

    Storing Poke Cake:

After this cake is done allow it to cool completely. Cover the top with foil or plastic wrap then store it in the fridge for 2-3 days.
