Tater tots have always been one of my favorites and now I’m serving them up in this amazing Tater Tot Breakfast Casserole.
This breakfast casserole is a favorite around here. My kids love tater tots, I mean what kids don’t. I remember them being one of my favorites and today I mixed them in with some eggs and sausage then served it as breakfast.
How to make Tater Tot Breakfast Casserole:
Time to get cooking. Let’s start by preheating our oven to 375 degrees F and prepare a casserole dish with non-stick cooking spray. Now on the stove top cook and crumble ground sausage until it’s fully cooked. Drain the fat then add it to the prepared casserole dish. Next up add in tater tots and mix together. Whisk together milk, eggs, and seasoning then pour it into the casserole dish. Add in 1 1/2 cups of cheese and mix until all ingredients are mixed well. Top with remaining cheese then bake for 50-55 minutes until cooked through. You know it’s cooked when you can put a toothpick in and it comes out clean.

Casserole dish: For this recipe, I used a 3 quart 9 x 13 casserole dish. I find these to be a must-have in any home. The one pictures I was gifted but I will be linking another favorite.

Skillet: A skillet with a lid would be wonderful for this recipe. Cooking fatty meats like sausage can cause a lot of grease to a lid is great to keep that all inside and not splattered all over the kitchen. This is another one with great reviews and I personally love.

- 1 1/2 cup milk
- 8 eggs (whisked)
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon pepper
- 1 pound ground sausage
- 2 cups Colby jack cheese (shredded)
- 2 pounds frozen tater tots
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F and prepare a casserole dish with non stick cooking spray.
Whisk together milk, eggs, and seasoning and set aside.
Cook and crumble ground sausage then drain fat and place in the bottom of your prepared casserole dish.
Top cooked ground sausage with shredded cheese.
Next add tater tots to the top of the casserole then pour in egg wash evenly.
Bake for 50-55 minutes until cooked through. You know it's cooked when you can put a toothpick in and it comes out clean. Optional: top with diced green onions.
