Nothing beats an easy and hearty breakfast recipe. Everyone in my family loves this Tater Tot Breakfast Casserole.

How to make Tater Tot Breakfast Casserole:

Step one: Get started by preheating your oven to 375 degrees F and then prepare a casserole dish with nonstick cooking spray.

Step two: Next whisk together your milk, eggs, and seasoning and set aside. You can add more or less seasoning to suit your taste.

Step three: On a skillet cook and crumble ground sausage then drain fat and place in the bottom of your prepared casserole dish.

Step four: Top cooked ground sausage with shredded cheese.

shredded cheese added to the casserole dish

Step five: Next, add tater tots to the top of the casserole then pour in egg wash evenly.

    Baking Directions:

Step six: Bake for 50-55 minutes until cooked through. You know it's cooked when you can put a toothpick in and it comes out clean. Optional: top with diced green onions.

Tools I used for this recipe:

Casserole dish: For this recipe, I used a 3 quart 9 x 13 casserole dish. I find these to be a must-have in any home. The one pictures I was gifted but I will be linking another favorite.

Whisk: Can you believe this whisk has over 1,000 reviews on Amazon! It's crazy and such a simple item. If you need one I would pick this one up.

Skillet: A skillet with a lid would be wonderful for this recipe. Cooking fatty meats like sausage can cause a lot of grease to a lid is great to keep that all inside and not splattered all over the kitchen. This is another one with great reviews and I personally love.

I am wondering if you have ever tried making this ahead and serving the next morning? What about freezing it? It looks delicious, but I am concerned that the cooking time would take too long on school mornings. Thanks!

I have yet to freeze this one but since the tater tots are already frozen I think it would work well. You can also make the night before, cover it, refrigerate, and then bake in the morning.
