This 7-Up Salad is one of my favorite recipes! It’s a classic recipe passed down to me from my mother-in-law and loved by my entire family.

7-Up Salad in a clear bowl on wooden board

This 7-Up Salad is a recipe that was passed down to me from my mother-in-law. My husband asked me to make it for him and I have to admit the ingredients seemed odd but I gave it a try. It quickly became a favorite of mine and one that we now make often for holidays or get-togethers.

How to make 7-Up Salad:

Step one: Heat mini marshmallows on low with 7 up in a small saucepan until melted.

Step two: Once heated add jello powder unto the saucepan until dissolved.

Step three: Once your jello powder has dissolved pour it above over cream cheese in a large mixing bowl. Then use a hand mixer on low to beat until smooth.

Step four: Once your cream cheese and jello are combined add in the pineapples and nuts to your mixture and gently stir in. Then place in the fridge to chill until your jello is set. This could take 3-4 hours to set.

  • Optional: If you are not a fan of nuts you can skip this and continue with the rest of the directions.

Step five: Once your jello is set remove it from the fridge and add in cool whip and mayonnaise. Then hill again for an hour then serve chilled and enjoy.

Make-Ahead Recipe:

Since we usually make this recipe for holiday parties I like to make it ahead of time. You can allow the jello to set overnight then mix in the morning. Or you can complete the recipe in place in the fridge in a bowl with a lid for 2-3 days.

    1. I think the mayor adds some good flavor to is and cuts the sweetness but I think it can be left out and still work.

  1. I wonder if I could substitute the lime for instant pistachio pudding?? The lime is delicious however I have a few who luv the pistachio.💜

    1. Hey Roberta, Mayonnaise is typically made of oil, eggs, and vinegar while Miracle Whip has the same basic ingredients but with less oil, and the addition of water, sugar, and spices.

  2. I was wondering how can I make this in pink color for a girl baby shower as an appetizer? Any suggestions? Or any simple pink baby shower appetizers to share.
    Thanks in advance 😉

  3. I have the same question. Can you use something instead of the mayo? My son is allergic to it. Maybe half as much sour cream?

    1. Instead of mayonnaise I use cottage cheese. This recipe was handed down to me as well. My family called it Elvis salad. 🙂

  4. We’ve been making this for 65 years, haha, handed down over and over. We just called it Lime jello salad ❤️it’s always been my favorite!!!!
