This Black Bean Hummus is all made in the blender with just a few simple ingredients. I love to serve mine topped with red pepper flakes and tortilla chips or raw veggies for dipping.

This recipe is so simple to make! Another great thing about hummus, is if you have a good blender it is essentially a "one-pot" or one dish meal!

Super easy to make and super easy to make and it taste amazing.

    What you need:

    • Black Beans
    • Garlic
    • Lemon Juice
    • Cumin
    • Salt
    • Pepper
    • Paprika
    • Oil
    ingredients for black bean hummus

How to make Black Bean Hummus:

Step One: Drain and rinse beans. Add beans to a blender.

    • Tip: If you use Chickpeas you would have a traditional Hummus.

Step two: Add garlic, lemon juice, cumin, paprika, olive oil, salt and pepper to a blender. Blend until you get the desired consistency.

    • Tip: I garnished mine with dried red pepper flakes for some heat!

Step three: Serve with veggies or tortilla chips!

    Serving Options:

I love serving mine with raw veggies. It also tastes great topped on tacos, taco salad, or eaten with tortilla chips.

Here are a few more of my favorite appetizers:

    • Homemade Salsa
    • Fiesta Taco Dip
    • Buffalo Chicken Dip

What other items can I use to make Hummus?

Traditionally, hummus is made with chickpeas. The Arabic word Hummus literally translates to chickpeas. But the process of mashing/blending chickpeas, adding oil and spices can be used in a variety of different legumes and veggies.

You probably will still call it hummus, but technically it would not be hummus.

Some great foods to try would to turn into your own hummus could be lima beans, edamame, any bean, or even squash!

Try something new next time your are in the mood for hummus!
