You know how much I love tacos and making homemade salsa is always the perfect side for any taco dish.

My family has been making this salsa ever since I was a little girl. My mom has passed this recipe down to all us girls and we all make it very regularly.

    How to make Homemade Salsa:

Homemade Salsa is very easy to make. All you need to do is finely chop your onions then put everything into a blender. Puree until everything is smooth. Serve with tortilla chips, add it to the top of your tacos or nachos and enjoy!

    Salsa Ingredients:

Here are the ingredients that you need to make homemade salsa.

    • Petite diced tomatoes: make sure to drain these well.
    • Red onion: I prefer red onion but other onions can be used.
    • Minced Garlic
    • Cilantro
    • Green Chilis
    • Salt
    • Limes

    Onion Tip:

When cutting onions for salsa I like to make sure they are minced. No one wants a huge chunk of onion in their salsa. I use this food chopper and it works wonders!

    Directions:

Step One: Finely chop your onion in a food chopper or food processor.

Step Two: Add all ingredients in order listed above to your blender.

Step two: Blend until well combined and you have the desired consistency. Pour to serve.

    • Tip: Make sure not to overdo it with blending. It should just take a few seconds to blend.

    Tips and FAQ

How to store salsa? This salsa will for up to 1 week in an air tight container in the fridge. You can also freeze in a freezer safe container or bag for up to 4 months.

Add in as needed: You can always start small and add more to taste. If you don't like a lot of salt or garlic you can always add less then taste before adding more.
