Seasoned with taco seasoning and cooked with freshly squeezed lime and orange juice these Slow Cooker Pork Tacos are full of flavor. Prep time is done is 10 minutes or less then let your slow cooker do all the work for you. I love serving this recipe with cilantro lime rice and homemade salsa.
Tacos tacos tacos! Y’all I can’t get enough. Any way you make it if it has some taco flare to it I will be eating it. These slow cooker pork tacos are just another taco favorite of mine. It’s so simple to make and full of flavor. I season mine with taco seasoning packet or a few tablespoons of my homemade taco seasoning. I add some fresh juice and let it cook. We usually serve them with soft tortilla shells, lettuce, salsa, and shredded cheese. If you love tacos as much as I do then after you make these make sure to check out all the other taco recipes on the blog.
Taco Recipes:
How to make Slow Cooker Pork Tacos:
When you are ready to start cooking just add your pork shoulder with taco seasoning to your slow cooker. Next, add in red onion, minced garlic, then squeeze the juice from your limes and oranges on top. Cook on low for 8-10 hours or until pork is fully cooked and easily pulled apart. I used two forks to gently pull apart my pork. Last, add fresh cilantro to your shredded pork and mix in. Of course, you can add that to taste or skip it altogether if you are not a fan of cilantro. When you are ready to eat serve it in a hard or soft tortilla shell with all your favorite taco toppings.
Cooking Time:
Cooking time can vary depending on the size and shape of your roast. I find that a good 10 hours on low in the slow cooker will do the job. Since pork can be very fatty meat I did end up draining some before serving but my dad (who has made this several times) personally likes to keep all the juices in with the tacos. It’s up to you!
What to serve with Pork Tacos:
- Rice
- Flour tortillas
- Shredded lettuce
- Sour cream
- Salsa
- Shredded cheese
- Lime wedges
- Diced tomatoes
- Avocado slices
