Chicken Taco Seasoning is a great seasoning to make at home. Most of the ingredients you probably have in your spice drawer already.

One big difference from this recipe and my Homemade Taco Seasoning is I use less chili powder and cumin, so it is a milder seasoning. This is great for chicken.

How to make Chicken Taco Seasoning:

Making homemade seasoning blends is super easy to do and experimenting to get the right flavor is half the fun. My husband loves making new seasoning blends, rubs and sauces or marinades like this Pork Marinade. This taco seasoning, I made specifically for use on chicken. Whether on chicken breasts or strips for fajitas, it is less spicy than my traditional seasoning. Gather your spices, measure them out, and then mix them all together in a bowl or jar.

Ingredients:

  • Chili Powder
  • Ground Cumin
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Paprika
  • Garlic Powder
  • Onion Powder
  • Crushed Red Pepper Flakes – if you do not like heat, do not add these.
  • Dried Oregano
ingredients for chicken taco seasoning.

Direction:

Step One – Mix seasonings together and place in a jar with lid.

Step Two – Use 1 tablespoon per pound of chicken or taste.

Storing Chicken Taco Seasoning:

To store this, you want to place it in an airtight container and in your pantry.

I recommend keeping the seasoning mix for around 6 months.

Once thing to keep in mind with spices and seasoning is that they typically do not “go bad.”

Can I use this on beef?

Yes, you can use it on beef! I made this slightly milder than my traditional taco seasoning, but it can be used on beef, chicken, pork, or ground turkey! It goes great with any Mexican or Tex-Mex dish you make!
