Creamed Peas are a classic side dish that is very easy to make. The cream is buttery and sweetened just a little bit that made my kids love this.

This side dish is really good, and honestly good enough to serve for the holidays. A big batch for the whole family is a great addition to a holiday feast.

How to make Easy Creamed Peas:

Start by setting your frozen peas on the counter. Allow them to thaw out while you prepare and make the cream sauce.

Make the cream sauce and then add the peas. Mix well and allow the peas time to heat up. Serve with dinner and enjoy.

melted butter for the creamed peas.

Step Three – Once butter is melted whisk in flour.

Step Four – Slowly whisk in half and half. I added about ½ cup at a time whisking until thickened and combined before adding more.

Step Five – To your cream sauce whisk in sugar, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.

Step Six – Mix in peas and heat for 4-5 minutes mixing while cooking.

Remove from heat and serve.

Can I use Canned Peas?

You can definitely use canned peas in this recipe. Make sure they are drained as you do not want any extra liquid in the sauce.

No matter if you use frozen or canned peas you do not want to add the peas until the end of the cooking process so as to keep the peas from getting mushy.

What to serve with creamed peas:

These creamed peas go great with steak or my Ranch Chicken.

I even think I will be making them with my next Easter Ham and Thanksgiving Turkey.

Try some of my other favorite Side Dishes:

White Cheddar Mac and CheeseThis White Cheddar Cheese is so rich and creamy it rivals the famous Panera Mac and Cheese. While this may not be a copycat recipe, it tastes so great and is super gooey and creamy everyone will love it!

Air Fryer VegetablesThese Air Fryer Vegetables are roasted perfectly and in half the time it takes to roast veggies in the oven. Use any veggies you like for this medley, but I specifically love bell peppers, red onions, broccoli, and zucchini.

Candied YamsThese Candied Yams are so simple to make and a side dish you need on your table. Topped with toasted melty marshmallows, it’s a mouthwatering recipe.
