Marry Me Chicken is a wonderful dish. It gets its name from the original creator of this dish. Supposedly, when it was served one of the guests, said “This is so good I could marry the chef.”

Chicken cooked in a creamy roasted tomato sauce. What is there not to love!

How to make Marry Me Chicken:

This dish is really easy to make. Start by preparing and cooking your chicken breasts. When the chicken is done, start your cream sauce.

Make the cream sauce, and then when it is done, add your chicken to it. “Marry” the sauce and chicken in the pan.

While you are doing that prepare some fettuccini noodles to serve with the chicken.

ingredients for the Marry Me Chicken.

Ingredient Notes:

  • Chicken Breasts – You may need to pound your chicken breasts down a little if they are really thick.
  • Salt and Pepper
  • Olive Oil – Extra Virgin Olive Oil is the best oil to use for this recipe.
  • Butter – You can use salted or unsalted butter for this recipe.
  • Minced Garlic – I used a jar of minced garlic for this recipe. To me it’s just easier to prepare and use.
  • All Purpose Flour – This will help thicken the cream sauce.
  • Chicken Broth – I used a low sodium chicken broth.
  • Heavy Cream
  • Grated Parmesan – Fresh parmesan is best for this recipe.
  • Sundried Tomatoes – chop the tomatoes up a little.
  • Italian Seasoning
  • Red Pepper Flakes – adds a little heat to the dish.
  • Fresh Basil – fresh basil chopped finely.

Directions:

Step One – Sprinkle chicken, on all sides, with salt and pepper to taste.

Recipe Tip

If the chicken breasts are very large you may need to cut them in half lengthwise, making them into cutlets. Or you can pound them down a little.

What to serve with this dish:

I find it’s best to serve this dish with pasta. Fettuccini is probably the best pasta to serve with Marry Me Chicken, but you can also use angel hair or spaghetti.

Tips to make a good dinner:

  1. Be careful not to burn the cream sauce. Cook it on a medium to low heat and stir it constantly. That is why I recommend cooking the chicken first, and then doing the cream sauce.
  2. Use fresh ingredients. Fresh parmesan is really the key to the sauce. Fresh basil also is nice. I know I used a jar of minced garlic, but that is just easier.

How to store leftovers:

Refrigerate leftovers in an airtight container for 3-4 days. I would not recommend freezing this recipe.
