This Shrimp Dip is super easy to make and is a really great dip to make for a party. It’s seasoned great and there’s shrimp in every bit.

It is a great dip that takes only about 10 minutes to make. Maybe a little bit longer if you have to thaw the shrimp.

How to Make Shrimp Dip:

Prepare your shrimp, thawing if using frozen shrimp. Dice the shrimp into bite size pieces so they mix well in the cream cheese mixture.

Mix the cream cheese, mayonnaise, seasonings and hot sauce together first.

Add in the green onions and shrimp and mix well. Chill in the refrigerator until ready to serve. Before serving top with some whole shrimp and some more green onions.

Tips for making the Shrimp Dip:

  1. Chop the shrimp coarsely so every bit can have shrimp in it.
  2. Cajun seasoning can be a substitute for Old Bay if you do not have it. You may need to cut out the salt if you go this route.
  3. You can omit the hot sauce is you do not want a spicy dip. The Hot Sauce does not add must heat to the dip, but for a milder dip do not use it.

What kind of shrimp should you use?

Small, pink shrimp are the best for this recipe. They are often called Salad Shrimp. Fresh shrimp is what I recommend using first.

You can use frozen shrimp, just make sure they are thawed before using.

You can also use canned shrimp. They need to be rinsed and dried before being added to the dip because they are canned in brine, so the salt, sugar and seasoning from the brine can be removed.

How long can you store this dip for?

Store the dip in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days.

I do not recommend freezing this dip.

What should I serve with Shrimp Dip?

Serve this dip with crackers or sliced veggies. I like to use celery sticks for this, but bell peppers and carrots are good choices too.
