This recipe only takes a few minutes to prepare before the slow cooker does the rest of the work. It is a great option for days when you know the evening will be busy.

ingredients for the Slow Cooker Creamy Ranch and Pork Chops.

Ingredient Notes:

  • Boneless Pork Chops – Boneless pork chops work well because they are easy to serve and cook evenly. Choose chops that are similar in thickness so they finish cooking at the same time.
  • Potatoes – Cut larger potatoes in half or into smaller pieces so they become tender before the pork is overcooked.
  • Fresh Green Beans – I love using fresh green beans, but frozen will work as well.
  • Cream of chicken soup – The condensed soup creates the base of the creamy sauce and helps keep the pork chops moist while they cook.
  • Milk
  • Seasoning – I used garlic powder, ranch seasoning, salt, and pepper.

Pour these over ingredients in your slow cooker.

Step Three – Cook on low for 5-6 hours. When pork is cooked through and potatoes are tender serve and enjoy.

Tips for Best Results

  • Cut potatoes into small, even pieces. This helps them cook at the same rate as the pork, so nothing ends up underdone.
  • Skip the thin-cut pork chops. Thinner chops dry out over a long cook time, so stick with thicker ones for the juiciest results.
  • Check the pork chops early if cooking on High. Every slow cooker runs a little differently, so start checking a bit before the recipe time to avoid overcooking.

FAQs

Can I use thinly sliced potatoes?

Yes. Thinly sliced potatoes cook faster and are a good option when cooking the pork chops on High. Arrange them in an even layer so they cook consistently.

Can I cook these pork chops on High?

Yes. Cook them on High for approximately 2½–3½ hours, checking early to avoid overcooking. The exact time will depend on the thickness of the pork chops and how hot your slow cooker runs. I prefer to cook them on low since cooking them on high I found lead them to being dry.

How do I keep pork chops from drying out in the slow cooker?

Use thicker pork chops, avoid cooking them longer than necessary, and check their internal temperature early. Boneless chops can dry out quickly once they are overcooked.

Can I use frozen pork chops?

It is best to thaw the pork chops before placing them in the slow cooker so they cook evenly and reach a safe temperature within the proper amount of time.

How do I know when the pork chops are done?

Pork is safely cooked when it reaches an internal temperature of 145°F followed by a short rest. Use a meat thermometer to prevent the pork from overcooking.

Can I prepare this recipe ahead of time?

Yes. You can mix the sauce and prepare the potatoes ahead of time. Store everything separately in the refrigerator, then assemble it in the slow cooker when you are ready to cook.

Notes

Storage and Reheating
Refrigerator
Store leftover pork chops, potatoes, and sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3–4 days.
Freezer
You can freeze the cooked pork chops and sauce for up to 2 months. The potatoes may have a softer or slightly grainy texture after thawing, so you may prefer to freeze the pork separately.
Reheating
Reheat leftovers in the microwave in short intervals until warmed through. You can also warm them in a covered skillet over low heat. Add a splash of chicken broth or milk if the sauce has thickened in the refrigerator.

    1. Hi Morgan, I have yet to try this in the oven but I am sure it could be done. I would toss it all in a casserole dish and cook until the pork is done and potatoes are tender.

  1. Hi Jennie
I have everything on hand except the cream if mushroom is there a substitute or will it come out good with out since there is milk n ranch seasonings

    1. Hi Lucy, I have yet to try this recipe without the cream of chicken soup. It would cook without it but you wouldn’t get that creamy sauce so I don’t think it would turn out right without it. You can try a homemade version of cream of soup. There are a lot online and they are usually just milk, flour, broth, with salt and pepper. I don’t have a recipe for one but if you google a cream of chicken substitute there are a lot fo recipes and it seems pretty simple to make.
      Hope that helps!

  2. Hi Jennie! I’m putting this together today for dinner, but was wondering about the potatoes… You indicated that they need to be “sliced”. Although, I’m not sure if by sliced you mean scalloped potatoe(thin&round) OR cut up any which way your heart desires…. I’m worried about the potatoes not being fully cooked when everything else is ready. It’s something that’s happened in the past, so for the most part, I try to steer clear of cooking potatoes in the crock pot. SMH. 😊😊

    1. Hi Trisha. I sliced them like scalloped potatoes (maybe a tad bit thicker) then cut that slice into 4s. I think that any way your hearts desires works as long as they as not left to big they should cook and be tender. I hope you enjoy the recipe!

    1. I think either setting should work but you would want to check on it sooner. If you will be away from your slow cooker then try the low setting. Hope you enjoy the recipe!

    1. Hi Jane Ann, for this recipe I used can green beans that are drained and fresh when making this recipe and both work great. You could also do frozen but I would allow them to thaw a little so you do not have extra water in the slow cooker.
