Macaroni and Cheese is one of the best comfort foods to make. I make it a lot, and I love making different recipes and styles to share with you all.

This Velveeta Mac and Cheese recipe is my husband's favorite way to make mac and cheese. This is how his mom made it growing up, and he loves it.

I know some people do not like Velveeta, but it really does give a super cheesy and creamy texture. We LOVE Velveeta in macaroni and cheese, and I think you will too!

How to make Velveeta Mac and Cheese:

This recipe is very simple to make. Cook your macaroni noodles according to the box directions. While they are cooking cube your Velveeta for easy mixing and shred your cheddar cheese. When the noodles are done mix in all your ingredients and then the magic happens. The cheeses, butter and milk all blend together creating the perfect comfort food.

    Ingredients:

    • Macaroni Noodles
    • Velveeta Cheese (cubed)
    • Butter
    • Cheddar Cheese - shredded
    • Half and Half - Can use milk if you do not have half and half.

ingredients for Velveeta mac and cheese.

    Directions:

Step One - Cook macaroni according to the package's directions then drain and return to the pot. Place on low heat.

    • Cooking Tip: Cook noodles to al dente. They will continue to cook in the additional steps, so you do not want your noodles to get soggy.

pouring milk over ingredients in large pot.

Step Two - Add cubed Velveeta cheese, butter, and shredded cheddar cheese to your cooked macaroni noodles and stir. Pour in half and half and then mix again.

Step Three - Continue to mix on low heat until all cheese melted and creamy. Serve warm and enjoy.

Can I make this recipe in the oven?

Yes, you can turn this stovetop mac and cheese recipe into an oven baked mac and cheese recipe very easily.

Once the noodles are cooked and you add in the remaining ingredients allow things to get melted and mixed together well. Pour it all into a casserole dish.

If you have some breadcrumbs or Panko mix them in with some melted butter and then spread it on top of the mac and cheese before you put it in the over. Bake in the over for about 10-15 minutes at 350 degrees.

Can I use bag shredded cheese for this recipe?

Bagged shredded cheese is not the best option for Macaroni and Cheese.

Bagged shredded cheese usually has additives that help the shelf life of shredded cheese last longer.

You want to use a fresh Cheddar Cheese block and shred it yourself for the best cheese option.

How to store Macaroni and Cheese:

Mac and Cheese is easily stored in an air tight container. It can be stored in the refrigerator for about 5 days, or in the freezer for up to 2 months.

I love making extra so I have leftovers, and it is a great meal to send over to family or friends who can use a meal.
