It’s Christmas time and peppermint is in the air! Once pumpkin spice is gone it’s all peppermint for me. Coffee, cookies, desserts, and candles!

I love to make sweets and treats for every holiday, but Christmas is one of my favorites. This Peppermint Bark is a great treat to make, and it is really easy to make.

ingredients for the peppermint bark.

Ingredient Notes:

  • Baker’s White Chocolate: This type of white chocolate and very creamy and easy to melt. You can also use white chocolate chips but they are not as easy to melt without ruining them.
  • Chocolate Chips: I used semi-sweet chocolate chips.
  • Peppermint Extract
  • Crushed Peppermint: You can use candy canes or round peppermints. To crush them place them in a baggy and then use a mallet to break them up.

Directions:

Step one: Get started by preparing a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.

Step two: Next place your white chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl.

Cook just 30 seconds at a time string with a clean and dry spoon in between until fully melted.

Recipe Tip

Use a good quality white chocolate. I like to use Baker’s white chocolate that was made for melting. I would suggest not using white chocolate chips unless they are of high quality.

Step four: Now melt your chocolate. Place chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl. Melt for 30 seconds at a time.

String with a clean and dry spoon in between until fully melted.

Once melted mix in ⅛ teaspoon of peppermint extract or less to taste.

Recipe Tip

This chocolate is much easier to melt than white chocolate but I still suggest using high-quality chocolate.

Melting Chocolate Tips

Melting chocolate can be a little tricky so it’s important to use higher quality chocolate especially when it comes to white chocolate.

I bought a white chocolate bar that was made for baking and melting.

When it comes to chocolate I find it to be easier to melt and used a good brand chocolate chip.

I placed them separately in microwave-safe bowls and only heated for 30 seconds at a time and mixed.

It only took about 1 minute each to be completely melted and smooth.

If you want to skip the microwave you could melt each separately in a double boiler instead.

Variations to the bark you can make:

I’ve made a few different kinds of “bark” over the years. We love this easy to make treat. You can change the chocolate base you use and the toppings to make a large amount of varieties.
