All made in the slow cooker and ready to pair with any dinner.
Slow Cooker Side Dish:
Maybe it’s just me but when I have an awesome side dish like these Slow Cooker Cheesy Ranch Potatoes I feel like a champ.
Most the time I tend to focus on the main dish and then toss in steamed veggies or a salad.
Something about making an awesome side dish with my meal just makes me feel like I’m winning at life even if my couch is covered in the laundry that I need to fold and my sink has an embarrassing amount of dishes in it.
Slow Cooker Cheesy Ranch Potatoes Instructions:
Step one: Start by preparing your slow cooker and lining it with foil and set aside.
- Tip: You don’t have to use foil but I find it helps keep your potatoes that touch the slow cooker from burning and makes for easy cleanup.
Step two: Next wash and dice your red potatoes and place them in a mixing bowl. Toss them with oil to coat. Add ranch seasoning and toss again until potatoes are coated. Add in 1 cup of cheese and all of the cooked and crumbled bacon.
Step three: Now add your seasoned potatoes to your slow cooker. Top with remaining cheese and allow to cook on low for 7-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours.
Step four: Time to serve! I love to garnish my potatoes with diced green onions.
Slow Cooker Cheesy Ranch Potatoes Pro Tip:
When cooking anything in my slow cooker with shredded cheese I like to use foil it I am able.
Cheese can be messy to clean up unless it’s a creamy cheese so for this recipe you want to start by lining your slow cooker with foil.
It also makes it really easy to pull out of the slow cooker when it’s time to serve to make sure to line with a little overhang that you can grab.

Here are a few recipes that I love to serve with these potatoes.
- Baked BBQ Chicken Legs
- Honey BBQ Meatloaf
- Buffalo Chicken Tenders
- Baked Honey Dijon Chicken

Just wondering if you have made this with golden potatoes at all and if the cooking time changes? Thanks!! Cant wait to make!
Hi Mara, you can use different potatoes and it shouldn’t change the cooking time.
Can the recipe be doubled?
Yes. You would just need to make sure you have a slow cooker big enough to fit everything.
If you didn’t want to use foil couldn’t you use a line for the slow cooker?
You could!
Thanks Jennie.
Do you have to use foil? I don’t use foil at all anymore and would like to make these. What is the foil for?
Thanks
Hi Chris, I just use the foil to help the potatoes that are touching the slow cooker to not burn. I found without it the cheese and potatoes would burn but other than that you don’t have to use it!
