Slow Cooker Swiss Steak is a classic comfort food made easy in the crockpot. Tenderized beef slowly cooks in a rich tomato-based gravy with onions, creating a hearty, flavorful meal that’s perfect for busy weeknights or cozy family dinners.

This recipe uses simple ingredients and low-and-slow cooking to transform budget-friendly beef into a tender, satisfying dish everyone will love.

Making Old Fashion Swiss Steak:

This recipe comes together with just a few simple steps. You’ll start by seasoning and lightly coating the steak, then adding it to the slow cooker with a rich tomato-based sauce and onions.

Once everything is layered in, the slow cooker does all the work, cooking the beef low and slow until it’s perfectly tender and full of flavor.

By dinnertime, you’ll have a hearty, comforting meal ready to serve.

From My Kitchen:

This is one of those slow cooker dinners I come back to when I want something comforting without a lot of effort.

I love getting it started earlier in the day and letting it do all the work while we go about our day.

It brings me right back to Sunday dinners growing up. My mom used to make this, and now I love making it for my family. We keep it simple and I serve it with mashed potatoes and green beans, and it’s always such a comforting meal.

You can see how much Chad loves this recipe, and honestly, that’s always a win for me. If you’re looking for more easy dinners like this, be sure to check out some of my other favorite slow cooker recipes.

Can I use another cut of beef?

Yes, you definitely can use another cut of beef. Some other good cuts of beef would be these options.

Chuck Roast – I would leave this whole and then shred it once done.

Cube Steak – This is another very good and tasty cut of steak for the slow cooker.

Beef Stew Cuts – Beef Stew meat would be another great option for this meal.

How to store leftover Swiss Steak:

Store in a food safe storage container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.

The acidity of the tomatoes will break down the meat some as it is stored, so you will want to eat it sooner than later.

Reheat in a skillet on the stove top or microwave.
