This simple to make dessert is perfect if you are having a craving for cheesecake. This Cherry Delight is a great, easy to make dessert everyone will love.

This Cherry Delight Recipe is a classic, easy to make dessert. Have a craving for a cheesecake-like dessert? Then is what you want to make.

How to make Cherry Delight:

Start with your graham cracker crust. While that is baking you can mix together the filling.

Once the crust is done and cooled add the cream cheese filling on top of the crust.

Spread the cherry pie filling on top of the cream cheese.

Place the Cherry Delight in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours to set. It’s so simple!

Ingredient Notes:

This recipe has three separate parts that need to be made and put together. The crust, filling, and topping.

Crust:

  • Graham Cracker Crumbs – crushed to make the crust.
  • Salted Butter – the butter needs to be melted.
  • Brown Sugar – you can use light or dark brown sugar.

Filling:

  • Cream Cheese – leave out on the counter so it can soften for easy mixing.
  • Powdered Sugar – also known as Confectioner’s Sugar.
  • Cool Whip – thawed not frozen.

Topping:

  • Cherry Pie Filling- use any brand you have available to you and that you enjoy.

Directions:

Step One – Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.

Step Two – Stir the graham cracker crumbs with the brown sugar. Then mix in the butter.

Step Three – Press the crumb mixture evenly into an 8 x 8 pan.

Step Four – Cook the crust for 10 minutes. Once done, allow to cool completely before adding filling.

Step Five – To make the filling, blend together the cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth. Next mix in the cool whip until combined.

Recipe Tip

You can make a reduced sugar version by swapping the powdered sugar and brown sugar for a sugar free substitute.

Step Six – Spread the filling over the cooled crust. Then spread the cherries on top of the filling.

Recipe Tip

This is a lightly sweet dessert if you prefer sweeter add up to ½ cup more powdered sugar to the filling.

Step Seven – Cover and then refrigerate for 2 hours or overnight before serving.

Tips for a great Cherry Delight:

  1. I do not recommend using a store-bought graham cracker crust as they are too thin. You want a thicker crust for this recipe. use my homemade crust recipe.
  2. Most Cherry Delights do not bake the crust. I find that baking the crust just a little, allows the crust to really set up and stay together best when serving.

How to store this dessert:

This is best stored in the refrigerator, covered or in a dish that has a lid. Store for up to 5 days in the refrigerator.

Ingredients 

Crust:

  • 1 ½ Cups Graham Cracker Crumbs
