Making Taco Soup in the Slow Cooker:

You all know me by now, I love using the slow cooker! I use it as often as I can, and I own more than one slow cooker due to how many times I am using them a week!

Taco Soup is my all-time favorite soup, as well as one of my most popular recipes.

Well, it is only time I do it in the crockpot! This recipe is a simple as it can get. I used canned ingredients. All you have to do is cook your meat, then throw everything into the slow cooker, give it a stir, and turn it on!

Let it cook for some time, and then you have an amazing dinner with little work!

Ingredient Notes:

  • Ground Beef: I perfect to use 85/15 ground beef for a little less fat. You can also use ground turkey or even ground chicken for this recipe.
  • Corn: I used canned corn for this and make sure to drain them well. You can also use frozen corn instead of canned.
  • Salsa: Your favorite store bought jar of salsa works perfectly for this recipe. I typically use mild.
  • Green Chilies: I used canned green chilies.
  • Black Beans: Canned black beans that have been rinsed and drained.
  • Taco Seasoning: But a packet at the store or use my homemade taco seasoning recipe.
  • Ranch Seasoning: Dry ranch seasoning you can also find in a packet at the store.
  • Beef Broth: Any broth works for this if you have something else on hand but I prefer the beef broth.
  • Optional toppings: Use whatever you like to put on top of tacos!

Can I freeze this soup?

Yes, taco soup is really simple to freeze. Once it’s done allow it to cool completely then add it to a large freezer bag or into individual bags are jars for single serving.

Keep in the freezer for 3-4 months. Allow to thaw in the fridge then reheat on the stovetop or microwave.
