We love our family taco nights. We do them way more than just on Taco Tuesdays. We could probably eat tacos or Mexican inspired meals most nights of the week.

These Taco Bowls are perfect for the family.

Just like a popular Tex-Mex Chain these “burrito bowls,” as they would call them, are loaded with your favorite taco toppings.

Make the bowl as loaded or as plain as you want! It is totally up to you!

How to make Taco Bowls:

These Tex-Mex inspired bowls are super easy to make. I make a Cilantro Lime Rice for the base!

Make my taco meat and prepare all the fillings and toppings. Build your bowl however you like and top it with your favorite toppings.

If you want to go lower on the carbs, substitute lettuce for the rice!

How to make the Taco Bowl Base:

This Cilantro Lime Rice is the perfect base for a taco bowl.

The directions are very easy, and you can use white or Brown Rice for the this. This recipe for this rice is copycat for the rice from Chipotle.

Another great choice for the base would be to make a lettuce base which basically will become a Taco Salad.

Chop up your favorite lettuce for this if you want!

Ingredients for the base:

  • Jaasmine Rice
  • Salt
  • Oil
  • Cilantro – chopped
  • Lime – Fresh Squeezed Juice
ingredients for cilantro lime rice base.

How to make Taco Meat:

Taco meat is the next most essential thing to your burrito bowls.

Whether you use ground beef, chicken, turkey or tofu the meat you choose to use needs to be seasoned properly to give your Taco Bowl that taco flavor.

I use taco seasoning and salsa in my taco meat to give it a great flavor. You can use my recipe for Homemade Taco Seasoning if you like!

Ingredients for Taco Meat:

  • Oil
  • Ground Beef – choose whichever ground meat or tofu you want to use.
  • Taco Seasoning
  • Salsa
ingredients for the taco meat.

Taco Bowl Toppings:

This is where you can do whatever you want! Prepare any items you want to serve with your taco bowls.

You can make beans, chop up tomatoes or jalapenos, get cheese and sour cream ready. The sky is the limit with what you want to add to your Taco Bowl.

Ingredients:

  • Shredded Cheese
  • Sour Cream
  • Tomatoes
  • Peppers
  • Black Beans
