  1. I made two batches of these fried apples to take for Christmas dinner. I came home with none. Everyone really liked the dish!!! Thanks Jennie!!!

  2. Apple quantity question. When I scroll down the page for the recipe it reads 3lbs of apples, when I use the Jump to Recipe tab it reads 1 lb of apples. All the other ingredient amounts are the same. Which is it? Also if I vary the amount of apples used should I increase or decrease the other ingredients accordingly?

    1. Sorry for the confusion! It is 3 pounds for this recipe I miss typed but it is fixed now! Thank you so much for pointing that out!

  3. I would like to try this, but need to make it dairy free. Are there any substitutes I could use for the butter, like country crock or something else?

  4. I’m sure you just made a mistake in spelling, but the restaurant is Cracker Barrel, not Crackle Barrel–unless you have a restaurant where you live that is nearly ripping off the famous name…??

    1. Haha!! Yes Joyce you are correct. Just typing to fast and reading it the way it was supposed to be not the way I actually typed. No place ripping off the name but that made me laugh!! Hope you enjoy the recipe! =)

  5. I’m planning on making this for Thanksgiving, but I’ll have to triple the recipe. Do you suggest I triple the cook time as well? Also, did you use a full, or half size crock pot?

    1. Hi Audra! I used a full size for this recipe and had lots of room for more. I wouldn’t triple the time, cook it for the 2 hours and test the apples for softness after that check on them once an hour. It may take maybe 1-2 hours more but probably more more then that. I hope you enjoy the recipe!!

  6. This was wonderful! I just made a batch today so I could give it a trial run for Thanksgiving. I doubled it exactly (I used a scale for the apples) and then added 1 bag a cranberries washed and sorted. I cooked it on high for 2 hours in the crock pot. Personally without the cranberries it would have been a bit too sweet for my taste. It was AMAZING! Thank you!
